Every once in a while, we have a person dance into, and out of, our lives, and then back in. Almost a decade ago, we were exhibiting at Loveland's Sculpture in the Park. Suddenly, this bright sprite of a dear heart startled us with squeals of delight and started dancing about with our sculpture. Teresa Volgenau—an international tango dancer, a transcendent visual artist and life coach declared, "Your sculptures are just like my paintings--and, as discovered on her iPhone, they were. Deborah and I were charmed at her enthusiasm and inner light. We talked about how much fun it would be to work on a project together, using both of our mediums. We visited for a while and joined her artwork followers on the web. With the best of intentions, sadly, we never hooked up, though we stayed in touch on social media. Soon after we moved to Oregon, we learned that she was facing a life-threatening health crisis. With long distance prayers and Go-fund-me, we followed her positive, courageous journey back to health, Still, we didn’t see her for quite some time.
Last summer she danced back into our lives (again) at the Loveland show…now recovered and painting glorious canvases full of joy and hope she remembered our promise from eight years before. . .and then magic happened. I sent her some of my flowing white, joyful sculptures which she painted in her distinctive and intricate style. It blew our socks off! It HAD to be, so we formed Joy-Laborative to work together to bring more joy and light to our work and to the world. These vibrant one-of-a-kind sculptures will debut at (again) Loveland this August 7-9th. We hope to see you there.
